On February 7,
Harbor Council PTA honored ten students from the Port Streets for
achievement in the school-district-wide level of competition of
the Reflections program. Awards were presented along with a
reception and exhibit of the award-winning entries. The event was
held at Costa Mesa Community Center on Park Avenue.
The following
are the award recipients who live in the Harbor View or Newport
Hills neighborhoods:

received an Award of Excellence in Middle/Junior Literature for

Street residents involved in the event that evening were Patty
Lance, who was a major sponsor of the Harbor Council PTA
Reflection program, Harbor Council PTA Executive Vice President
Kristi Kirsch, Harbor Council PTA Reflections Chair Carol Gaetano,
Andersen Elementary Reflections Co-Chairs Amy Dillon and Lisa
Giger, and the event photographer Barbi Townsend.
Reflections is an annual National PTA program that recognizes
students in the creative arts. Each year there is a theme and
this year it was “My Favorite Place”. Students in 4 age divisions
may enter work in any of 6 different art categories. Entries are
judged at the school, school district, county, state and national
level. There were almost 1,000 submissions within Newport-Mesa
Unified School District this year.
